You should have yelled at me
to make me act in response
so that your hands could have been
an oxygen bomb
on my chest.

You should have hit me
on the lowest part
of my loneliness.

You should have claimed
my childish look
that you never found
for one day I flung
my heart over
the birds’ corpses
when I learned that these
in premonition of their death
pulled out the fishes’ eyes.

You should have tied yourself up
inside this tree
that got dry
and which fruit was eaten
only by nameless women
who devoured
the night’s scorn
and played dice with their sex.

I know
you should have accomplished a lot
what for anyway
tomorrow the sea will stay
forever blind.

Me hubieras gritado
para que reaccionara
para que tus manos fueran
una bomba de oxígeno
sobre mi pecho.

Me hubieras golpeado
en la parte más baja
de mi soledad.

Hubieras reclamado
mi mirada de niño
que nunca encontraste
pues un día arrojé
mi corazón sobre
los cadáveres de los pájaros
cuando supe que éstos
al presentir su muerte
le arrancaban los ojos a los peces.

Te hubieras atado
dentro de este árbol
que se secó
y cuyo fruto sólo comieron
las mujeres sin nombres
las que devoraron
el desprecio de la noche
y jugaron dados con su sexo.

Hubieras hecho tanto
Yo sé
pero de qué hubiera servido
mañana el mar se quedará

ciego para siempre.
