I don’t want to know or hear anything,
and the only thing I am looking for
is to seat in the forsaken road
and look at a dog,
who in his silence knows,
I only want to be there,
and his eyes want to speak to me
-but he recollects - and keeps quiet.

Tonight I shall recite to a man
who lost his harmony,
a poem to die in peace.

Right now
a shadow climbs
to my chest to caress
my forehead with his hands
- then I keep silence -

Neither the night, the street, nor the dog
will be able to appease this absence.

Hay noches en que no quiero saber nada
ni oír nada,
y lo único que busco
es sentarme en la desamparada calle
y mirar a un perro,
que en su silencio sabe,
permanecer solo quiero,
y desea hablarme con sus ojos
-pero recuerda- y calla.

Esta noche recitaré
a un hombre que perdió su paz,
un poema para morir en paz.

En el momento en que pienso esto
una sombra se me sube
por el pecho y me acaricia
con sus manos la frente
-entonces callo-

Ni la noche, ni la calle, ni el perro
podrán apaciguar esta ausencia.
